Donald Trump and first lady Melania deliver Christmas speech on pandemic
Donald Trump appeared to back the idea of trying to overturn the outcome of the Jan.6 congressional election in a series of tweets Saturday morning in which he once again made unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud.
A joint session of House and Senate politicians will meet on January 6 to count electoral votes, giving Joe Biden a 306-232 victory.
On Saturday morning, Trump tweeted: “The Department of ‘Justice’ and the FBI have done nothing about voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, the largest scam in our nation’s history, despite the overwhelming evidence. They should be ashamed. History will remember. Never give up. See you all in DC on January 6. “

Trump in attack mode
The president has spent much of this time on Twitter this morning continuing to dispute the election results and even appears to back a plan to try to overturn the results in Congress.
When Congress meets on January 6 to count electoral college votes, lawmakers loyal to the president may object and force a vote.

Stand-off on Covid Stimulus Relief
The ball is in the president’s court right now regarding the Covid stimulus package.
He continues to demand that payments to people be increased from the $ 600 negotiated in Congress to $ 2,000, and he refuses to sign the bill without that change.
However, without the president’s signature, many relief programs extended by the bill will begin to expire today, including expanded unemployment insurance and eviction moratoriums.
Democrats are eager to increase payouts, but Senate Republicans are unlikely to agree.
