Trent Alexander-Arnold has cheekily targeted José Mourinho after helping Liverpool beat Spurs 2-1.

In a tense clash at the top of the table, the Reds scored three points thanks to Roberto Firmino’s late header, but had him to thank for not being left behind after Steven Bergwijn hit the post with the score locked at 1-1.

This led Spurs boss Mourinho to mourn his team’s fate after the game, exchanging words with his Reds counterpart Jurgen Klopp, in which he claimed the best team lost.

Alexander-Arnold has now responded on social media, posting a photo of the victory with the cheeky caption “Best Team Won” and a smile.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the match, Mourinho argued that even a draw would have been a bad result for his team due to their performance.

He said: “We had the chances, we had the game under control. A draw would be a bad result in relation to the performance, so you can imagine how we feel about defeat.

“A very good performance, of course with some mistakes and some things to improve but a great performance. A very unfair result.”

When asked about his trade with Klopp, Mourinho said there was a difference of opinion about the game.

He said: “I told him the best team lost and they disagreed, but that’s their opinion.

“By the way, if I behave the same way on the touchline as him, then I have no chance of staying there and I’ll be out for a minute.”

Afterward, Klopp expressed his confusion over Mourinho’s unhappiness for his behavior on the touchline, revealing that his opposite number had not mentioned anything to him during the exchange.
