Chris Wilder has confirmed that Sheffield United are trying to bring in another striker as rumors about Rhian Brewster continue to pick up steam.
Liverpool is understood to be willing to listen to offers for the 20-year-old, even though Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan.
Brewster has been involved in the Reds’ preseason preparations, but with first-choice trio Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, his opportunities will again be limited.
That means Klopp could cash in on the former Chelsea academy star, in order to fund moves for players like Thiago Alcantara.
The Blades have targeted Brewster as their number one target this summer, and Wilder is desperate to bring in extra firepower this season.
And while he didn’t explicitly name him, Wilder has confirmed that his side will be active in trying to secure another striker in the final weeks of the window.
“We are definitely looking to improve. We want to have one at the top of the field to give us that quality. We are trying. It is an important area of the field. Obviously we have the boss (Billy Sharp) and David McGoldrick who were involved (Monday).” , said.

“If we can get one more at the top end of the field to really give us that quality, then we will be in much better shape than when we started in the Premier League against Bournemouth (last season).”
Brewster added fuel to the fire earlier this week, when he liked an Instagram post from the Rising Ballers account.
The post featured a photo of the forward holding a trophy in Liveprool’s dressing room, with the caption: “Rhian Brewster will possibly leave Liverpool to join Sheffield Utd for £ 25 million.
“Klopp will put a buyback clause if this deal goes through.”
And Brewster was one of more than 21,000 people who liked the post, which gives a subtle hint that his future is far from Anfield.
He enjoyed a successful loan stint with Swansea City last season, sending them off to the Championship play-offs, but has admitted that he would rather stay with Liverpool for the long term.
He told The Beautiful Game podcast: “Ultimately, I want to be at Liverpool next season. I want to fight for a place to play.
“Who is not going to want to play at the home of the champions?
“I really don’t want to go on loan, but if that’s the best I can do, go away and have more playing time, then that’s what I’m going to do.
“Realistically, I want to play for Liverpool.”
