Tottenham have signed Swansea and Wales defender Joe Rodon for a fee believed to be around 11 million pounds and rises to 15 million pounds.
The 22-year-old signed a five-year contract and joined Spurs just before the national transfer deadline after extensive negotiations.
The Spurs began talking to Swansea on the day of the international deadline, but it took 10 more days to reach an agreement.
Rodon, who played England for Wales last week, joins international teammates Gareth Bale and Ben Davies at Spurs. However, he has not joined in time to play West Ham on Sunday and will not be eligible for any of Tottenham’s Europa League group stage matches.
Rodon made his Swansea debut against Preston in August 2018 and made 28 appearances during that campaign. He followed up with 21 appearances last season and won his first international game for Wales in a 2-1 win against Azerbaijan last September, then won six more for Ryan Giggs’ men.
Swansea hired the central defender of the Lobos Ryan bennett and Manchester City defender Joel Latibeaudiere the day of the deadline. Both players team up on free transfers, while Spurs are central Cameron Carter-Vickers Is directed to Bournemouth on a one season loan.
