Newcastle-under-Lyme is now one of England’s worst coronavirus hot spots, but the infection rate differs wildly between different parts of North Staffordshire.
The latest data released by Public Health England shows the areas where Covid-19 infections are highest.
The seven-day rate of change is increasing rapidly in the districts of Newcastle, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire Moorlands and Stafford, but the figures are very different depending on the zip code area.
These can be divided into small neighborhoods that are used to compile the national census.
The most recent map, showing infection rates through November 2, shows that alarming new hotspots have emerged, some where the infection rate has doubled or even tripled.
Areas in purple show where there is an infection rate of more than 400 per 100,000.
