Three arrested as youths threw ‘missiles’ at police and public

Three youths have been arrested tonight when police report that the youths have ‘thrown missiles’ at them and members of the public.

Over the weekend, Merseyside Police have complained about antisocial behavior in the West Derby Village area and urged parents to check where their children are.

In a Facebook post, the force asked ‘parents, do you know where your children are and what are they doing?’

Police reported that tonight they and members of the public were verbally abused and missiles fired at them while “trying to keep people safe.”

As a result, three youths have been arrested and taken home for crimes related to cycling, crimes against public order and possession of fireworks.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “Parents, you know where your children are and what they are doing!

“Tonight and the last 2 nights we have received numerous complaints of antisocial behavior in the West Derby Village area.

“Tonight, 3 young people have been arrested and taken home for a series of crimes, including dangerous bicycle crimes, crimes against public order and possession of fireworks.

“Members of the public and officers have been verbally abused and missiles thrown at them for trying to keep people safe.

“This behavior will not be tolerated and Merseyside Police will work with partners to identify anyone who engages in this behavior or is in violation of Covid restrictions.”
