Thomas Partey has passed the first part of his Arsenal medical exam as a £ 45 million move for the Premier League club looms.
The Atlético de Madrid midfielder is scheduled to fly to London to complete the second half of his doctor and will officially sign his contract tonight, according to the latest reports.
After becoming an Arsenal player, he will fly to Turkey to join the Ghana team.
Partey has been on the Gunners’ radar for the entire summer transfer window, but they had been reluctant to comply with his £ 45 million release clause.
Now, however, Arsenal are back for Partey and hope to close a deal before the 11pm deadline.
Samuel Zigah, who is the 27-year-old’s public relations officer, sent fans into overdrive early Monday by tweeting an hourglass emoji.
Arsenal is now willing to fully comply with the Ghanaian’s termination clause, avoiding having to negotiate with Atlético.
Mikel Arteta is making room on his team as Arsenal look to bring in Partey.
Matteo Guendouzi joined Hertha Berlin on a one-season loan after fighting Arteta amid concerns about his attitude.
Meanwhile, Lucas Torreira could swap places with Partey as the Uruguayan is expected to join Atlético on loan.
