Here’s your morning recap from Liverpool on Friday, March 12.
Thiago lives Liverpool’s dream while the Reds give Fabinho benefits
Liverpool’s midfield on Wednesday night would have been the kind of medium Thiago Alcantara would have dreamed of when he arrived at Anfield in September.
Fabinho’s return to midfield was much needed for the Reds, who dominated in their 2-0 win over RB Leipzig.
The Brazilian, who has spent most of the season as a center-back due to the lack of options available to Jurgen Klopp, was a great presence for the Premier League champions in Budapest.
So far in his Liverpool career, Thiago has felt the impact of the Reds’ defensive crisis with two of the best midfielders in the squad, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, being returned to defense.
Without a midfield enforcer, Thiago has been trying. to impose his own physicality on matches and has been criticized for giving away too many fouls.
However, Wednesday was finally an opportunity for the 29-year-old to flourish alongside Brazilian powerhouse Fabinho. And that he did.
The Spanish midfielder was one of the Reds’ best players in Hungary and was unlucky not to claim a sublime assist after a clever scissor kick put Mohamed Salah on goal.

Kabak aims to be a hit at Anfield
One of Klopp’s former teammates has targeted Ozan Kabak to become a hit at Liverpool.
The 20-year-old center-back came to the Reds team at the most difficult time, with the reigning champions England woefully out of shape in the Premier League.
Liverpool have the option to sign Kabak permanently in the summer for £ 18 million if he makes an impression during his loan from German club Schalke.
“Kabak is a good player,” said Guido Schafer, Klopp’s former teammate in Mainz and a journalist currently covering RB Leipzig, on a Blood Red podcast Under The Radar before Liverpool versus the German team.
“I saw him many times in the Bundesliga.

“He is very powerful and has a good mentality. I think 18 million pounds is a good price for this player.”
“The mentality is world class from Kabak. He is not at his best now, but I think he could be a good player for Klopp and Liverpool in the future.”
It was arguably Kabak’s strongest performance in a Liverpool jersey on Wednesday night, as he helped the Reds secure a much-needed clean sheet against RB Leipzig.
The Turkish international, along with Nat Phillips, looked very confident in the heart of Liverpool’s defense and played from behind with a lot of confidence and composure.
