Liverpool fear Thiago Alcantara could face another spell on the sidelines after being on the receiving end of a horrible red card from Everton forward Richarlison.
Thiago was caught in the right leg by the Brazilian shortly before the end of the 2-2 Premier League draw at Everton on Saturday.
The Spanish international, who was making his first start with the Reds after his £ 20 million move from Bayern Munich last month, needed lengthy treatment on the field but was able to complete the match.
However, Klopp revealed that the midfielder, who returned to action after a period of isolation following a positive test for the coronavirus, delivered grim news after the final whistle.
“As he was leaving the field, Thiago tells me that in the red card situation with Richarlison he thinks he has been injured,” Klopp said.
“We will see if it is true or not. The player felt that way and we will have to take a look at him. “
Speaking to BT Sport, he added: “We don’t know what it has. It doesn’t look good.”

Video footage suggested Thiago might have injured his right knee from the force of the challenge, and the player is now a big doubt for Liverpool’s Champions League group opener at Ajax on Wednesday.
The Reds are already sweating over the fitness of Virgil van Dijk, who appeared to be seriously injured after being the receiving end of a poor tackle from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who escaped punishment.
“We lost one player in a VAR, maybe another with the red card situation and then a ‘goal’ was ruled out,” Klopp said. “Obviously not our day.”
