The coronavirus infection rate continues to fall in Greater Manchester.
Two districts, Trafford and Stockport, now have a transmission rate lower than the national average.
The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.
While Oldham remains the worst-hit area in the region, its rate has dropped below 400 for the first time since October 14.
During the city’s peak on November 4, the rate reached 800.8 per 100,000.
However, in the seven days through November 21, the rate more than halved to 388.4%.
In fact, six other counties have seen their infection rates drop by more than half since cases peaked in late October and early November.
Rates are falling the fastest in Trafford, where the rate has dropped by 50% in a week.
The municipality’s rate is now 170.6, its lowest level since September.
The average rate for England is now 208.7 and for the whole of Greater Manchester 276.48.
The latest infection rates for Greater Manchester are:
Oldham 388.4, 30 pieces less
Rochdale 360.6, 31 pieces down
Bury 314.1, 33pc below
Bolton 306.4, 31 pieces down
Wigan 304.6, 30 pieces down
Salford 260.0, 42pc down
Manchester 249.6, 34 percent less
Tameside 249.4, bottom 37pc
Stockport 208.6, 37 pieces down
Trafford 170.6, 50 pieces less
Stockport’s transmission rate has also fallen below the national average, with a rate of 208.6, down 37% in the week ending November 21.
In general, rates are falling faster in all Greater Manchester boroughs compared to England as a whole.
