Alisson becker 7
He faced Dreyer well in the opening moments in only contribution in the first half. He commanded his area confidently when the Danes started threatening the second half.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 9
It’s almost over after a rambling dribble in the area and the layout is much, much better than lately. Good double with Shaqiri to prepare for the first game and his pass to Salah forced the penalty for the second. Real quality.
Fabinho 6
Quite quiet exit until, worried, he stopped injured. Subtitled.
Joe Gomez 8
He won some good headers early on and was not put off by Midtjylland’s attack. Enjoyed the added responsibility at the back once Fabinho left.
Andy Robertson 7
Their crossover won a couple of corners for Liverpool in the first half and defensively solid, particularly when Midtjylland increased the pressure late.
Jordan henderson 7
He pushed with determination to advance, but took a more defensive position after Fabinho’s departure. Subtitled during the break.
James Milner 7
He had a shot blocked for a corner in a rare forward foray. He passed the tough yards of the first half, then started to influence things more. Reserved.
Xherdan Shaqiri 7
It took a while for him to settle into position, but started to show some nice attacking flourishes before the break. Excellent to pass the key during preparation to the opener.
Diogo Jota 7
A couple of strong runs and a volley to the side, he couldn’t sway things enough before the break but, like the weekend, he turned into play and scored a vital goal.
Takumi Minamino 5
He really struggled to make an impression and was frustrated with himself after a few loose touches. Subtitled.
Divock Origi 5
He changed wings on occasion and was twice hit by heavy challenges, but inconsistent in possession and rarely a threat. Subtitled.
Rhys Williams (by Fabinho 30) 7
He composed encouraging things for the youngster and made a good interception after the break.
Gini Wijnaldum (for Henderson 46) 7
Instantly up-to-date with the game and busy in midfield, helping to protect the defense and regularly accepting the ball outside of defense.

Sadio Mane (for Origi 60) 6
Left occupied but cannot fully stretch legs often.
Mohamed Salah (by Minamino 60) 7
He added rhythm to the attack and fired an effort before winning and converting the penalty for second.
Roberto Firmino (for Jota 80)
Long enough to lose a babysitter.
