The latest tweet from Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman’s account has become the most liked post in Twitter history.
The official feed of the social media company announced the news. The original message, published Saturday and confirming Boseman’s death from cancer at age 43, currently has more than 7 million “likes.” (The previous tweet with the most likes was by Barack Obama, with 4.3 m.)
Boseman, who starred in Da 5 Bloods and Marshall, as well as Black Panther, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016. The post said that his most famous roles were “filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”
He added: “The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks you to continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
Tributes continued to pour in to the actor, including a lengthy statement from Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. “[He] it was an anomaly. I was calm. Insurance. Constantly studying. But also kind, comforting, he had the warmest laugh in the world and eyes that saw far beyond his years, but could still shine like a child seeing something for the first time. “
