Unless you live under a rock, you already know that Hull and the East Riding are moving towards tougher measures against the coronavirus.
As virus cases rise and hospital admissions rise, the region has had to move to Tier 2 “high risk”.
It means the prohibition of people from meeting someone outside their home or the bubble of support in any indoor environment. This includes both domestic and indoor public places, such as pubs and restaurants.
It also means the end of the current ‘rule of six’ in all indoor settings and there is also a limit of no more than six people gathered in a group outdoors, including gardens and other open spaces.

But there is a little-known rule within the tier system that many people might break.
The rule in question affects those who live on Level 2 the most.
In simple terms, if you live in Level 2, the rules you are subject to will follow you to a Level 1 area.
For example, if you live on Level 2 in East Yorkshire and feel like going out for a drink with your friends, you can’t just travel to a pub in a Level 1 area in North Yorkshire.

Similarly, you cannot travel from Level 2 to Level 1 and meet outside with a group of more than six people, unless it is for work or educational reasons.
But, if you live in a Level 1 area and visit somewhere in Level 2, you will have to follow the Level 2 rules.
In relation to Level 3, the general rule is that you should not travel to and from the area.

If you need it for work or educational reasons and you travel from Level 2 to Level 3, you must follow the rules for Level 3.
Likewise, if you live on Level 3 and have to work on Level 2, you must follow the Level 3 measures.
The bottom line is, if you are unsure of the level restrictions to adhere to, perish on the side of caution and adhere to the strictest measures.
