A decision on a possible circuit breaker lockout in Wales will be made in the next few days, Vaughan Gething said.
Health Minister Vaughan Gething revealed that locking a circuit breaker is a “potential option” that the Welsh Government will consider over the next few days in an attempt to combat the increasing cases of coronavirus in Wales.
Responding to a question on whether Wales is considering a national breaker lockout, Gething told BBC Breakfast it was a “possible way forward”.
He said: “We are actively considering the advice we receive from our own technical advisory cell that provides that advice and analyzes data from Wales.”
“So this week we will have discussions with our scientists and our medical director. It is a possible way forward that we are actively considering and, again over the next few days, we will have to make some decisions about whether or not we are going to do that.
“A lot of people are pointing to the school semester as a potential way to introduce a break if we’re going to do it. The next few days will be very important, but we’re getting specific advice tailored to Wales to understand how it might look like.”

Gething also said that he thinks it would have been better if there had been a four-country conversation regarding a circuit breaker.
“However, we will shoulder our responsibilities here in Wales and make decisions, as I say, in the coming days.
Mr. Gething made the comments after Prime Minister Mark Drakeford wrote to Prime Minister Boris Johnson to choose a nationwide circuit breaker; you can read about it here.
In a letter to Boris Johnson, Mark Drakeford said that another Cobra meeting was “urgently” needed to specifically discuss which circuit breaker measures would be most appropriate.
A circuit breaker is a strict form of lockout, similar to what was introduced in March, but for a much shorter period of time. Its objective is to return the incidence of infection to lower levels.
