Chase star Mark Labbett has revealed that he split from his wife Katie so that she can have the freedom to date her lover, after their open marriage didn’t work out.
The 55-year-old interrogator separated from his nurse wife, 28, after seven years of marriage, citing the confinement, their mental health and age differences as contributing factors to the separation.
In a candid new interview, Mark, known on the ITV game show as “The Beast” admitted “It’s better for us to go our separate ways.”

Katie has been revealed to have been seeing her lover, 30-year-old senior design engineer Scott Bate, for 18 months.
Mark, who shares a three-year-old son with Katie, admitted that he had a feeling that she was seeing Scott, but decided to approach things sensibly for the sake of his son.

But when the lockdown came, things between him and Katie became tense and she began seeing Scott, resulting in Mark making the decision to end their marriage for good.
He explained: ‘When Katie first told me about her boyfriend, I had a hint. But from the beginning, my attitude was quite pragmatic: it was about spilled milk, what could we do to fix the situation?
He added that because they had a ‘family’, he could just ‘throw that off lightly’ as they had other ‘considerations’.
The candid interview also saw Mark blaming his hectic work schedule and being away from home a lot, as well as their age difference, as contributions to the breakup.

As Katie continues to see her boyfriend, Mark expressed “concerns” that Scott was “nice” to his son after the young man started mentioning Scott’s name.
Mark has told her that Scott has met his son and trusts him around his little one.
The pageant star added that she will be moving out of her family’s home in Herefordshire next month.
