Britney Spears’ guardianship has been extended until at least the end of August after a judge decided to postpone a hearing due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The 38-year-old singer has been under guardianship since 2008, when her father, Jamie Spears, was legally in charge of her affairs.

Jamie gave up her curatorial powers in September last year, and care manager Jodi Montgomery was put in charge of Britney.

On Saturday, Entertainment Tonight reported that this conservatorship has been extended until at least August 22, 2020 after Judge Brenda Penny issued the extension.

Britney Spears surprised fans last week when she revealed that her home gym had burned down.

The news of the extension comes after Britney’s family expressed concern over the star’s confession last week that she had accidentally burned her home gym.

The drama unfolded in Britney’s home when she left a candle unattended, lighting a fire that destroyed her training space.

No one was injured during the incident.

Britney’s father Jamie was her legal guardian between 2008 and 2019.

“Her family worries because they know Britney can be distracted and forget,” a source told Entertainment Tonight on Saturday.

Britney alarmed fans when she shared the news that her home had been damaged by the fire.

Taking Instagram last week, the pop star explained what had happened.

Her problems were affected by the collapse of her marriage to dancer Kevin Federline and after a battle for custody of her sons Sean and Jayden, who are now 14 and 13 years old respectively.
