Simon Jordan claims Dean Smith is ‘uprooting trees’ as the Aston Villa boss continues to silence his critics.
The commentator was talking about Sunday’s 3-0 win at Emirates Stadium, a game in which Villa swept the Gunners.
It was a result that took Villa to sixth place, just three points from the top of the league with one game in hand.
And it was the last game in a string of results that has seen Smith consolidate his right to coach Villa in the top flight.
“A lot of people talk about Arsenal and what Arsenal didn’t do and that’s not right,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“To some extent Arsenal will always be seen that way due to their achievements in the past, but it is a club that is rebuilding and operating with a new manager who has some immediate success but has work on his hands.
“But Villa made Arsenal look like they did sometimes because Villa played with such rhythm, such tempo, such faith and such confidence, that Arsenal played in his hands.
“He was more interested in Aston Villa. Ross Barkley yeah, okay, but that’s a sideshow to me.
“Villa as a soccer operation under Dean Smith is uprooting trees this year.
“I was worried about Dean Smith at the beginning of the season.
“I felt that if Villa didn’t start well, even though the victory was snatched from the jaws of defeat at the end of last season, the owners would push him down.
“But you can’t argue with Villa’s performances at the moment because they have looked very, very good.”
