“Most of the people in Manchester have made tremendously difficult sacrifices over the Christmas period and abided by the rules that we all have to follow, yet it is the minority of people who attend events like this that run the risk of undoing. everyone else’s hard work, ”said Ch Ins MacDiarmid.
“It is clear that the people at this meeting were not just people from Manchester but from all over the North West,” he said.
MacDiarmid said that the actions of these people “not only ignore the rules to protect public health, but also undermine the whole spirit of all of us that we need to be together in this to combat the continued risk of coronavirus.”
He added: “We have always operated, and continue to operate, using the four E’s of engaging, explaining and encouraging the public to comply, but we will not hesitate to take enforcement action against those who are responsible for blatant examples of rule-breaking like this.”
