Hundreds of homes in Norfolk were without power on Boxing Day when high winds from Storm Bella caused dozens of outages.

UK Power Networks said it had received hundreds of calls from customers from Norfolk residents on Saturday due to stormy weather causing problems on its power grid.

In Downham Market, 224 homes were without power just before 3pm due to a failure in the overhead grid.

Also in West Norfolk, an underground network failure caused damage to substation equipment near Walpole St Peter, just east of Wisbech, forcing UK Power Networks to dispatch a specialized team to excavate and expose the wiring. For your repair.

While there are two current power problems on the North Norfolk coast, most of the problems affect central and south Norfolk. As of 5 p.m., there were 16 active power outages in those areas, with 19 more in North Suffolk and Waveney.

It comes just days after areas of central and south Norfolk were hit hardest by heavy rains and flash floods on December 23, which left areas like Long Stratton with several inches of standing water.
