What to expect from the weather this weekend

The Met Office has confirmed that weather warnings will remain in place in Hampshire over the weekend with the forecast of heavy rain and risk of flooding.

However, meteorologists have said that the weather that will affect the region on Saturday and Sunday will be of a “frontal system coming from the east rather than the conditions currently unleashed by Storm Alex.”

While there may still be ‘gusty winds’ on Saturday and Sunday, the yellow weather warning instead is for heavy rain but not wind.

Nicola Maxey, a spokesperson for the Met Office, said: ‘The warning for Hampshire is in effect from 3am on Saturday to 6pm on Sunday. The worst part of the UK to be affected will be the South West and Wales, where there will be coastal storms. “
