Daniel Farke fears that Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul could be out “for weeks” after his thigh injury in Tuesday’s dramatic 3-2 win at Stoke City.

Krul came to an abrupt halt after a punt and was replaced by Michael McGovern in an epic competition that also saw Emi Buendia fired.

Teemu Pukki’s double after Buendia opened the scoring put the leaders in full control, but Stoke responded through Tyrese Campbell and Nathan Collins.

Krul left the stadium with his left thigh tied tightly and Farke is already planning the weekend visit to Coventry City without him.

“It looks like a muscle injury. I don’t expect he’s ready to come back in three days, ”Farke said. “I hope he’s gone for a few weeks. That’s the punishment schedule that we have with many games.

“This is not good news. We have to evaluate it. We already had a lot of injuries before this game. Now we also have Tim and Marco Stiepermann had to leave the field with a possible concussion. He couldn’t continue playing.

“Teemu was also complaining about some hamstring problems, so we had to take him out. Emi Buendia is also suspended this weekend. You can see how we finish this game.

“We had Przemyslaw Placheta as a forward and Mario Vrancic and Jacob Sorensen in the wide areas. Very difficult, but we found a way to win again against a team that could have surpassed us in the table. The fighting spirit and mentality were great. ”

Farke revealed that Buendia was quick to apologize for his two yellow cards within five minutes of the second half that put his team under extreme pressure.

“We have to accept that his emotions got the better of him. Sometimes it is a bit naive. I thought he was the man of the game up to that point, ”Farke said. “Write down and then the assist for Teemu, but also his workload and his back pressure.

“For me, by far the best player on the field. Then he was embroiled in a 50/50 tackle, and the referee decided to call him a foul and a yellow card. You should accept this and then calm down a bit and be more careful in future matches.

“He was eager to get the ball back and his foot was too high and he didn’t realize the opponent was coming. Of course, then you give the referee a decision to make. It was naive.

“He has already apologized to the group in the dressing room for having made life difficult for us.

“It is part of their development. He is a young player. There was no bad intention.

“He was punished for not finishing this game and missing the next one. It’s enough. Bad luck for him and us because he was in great shape. ”
