YouTube star Steve Cash died at 40 after taking his own life.

Cash, who was behind the Talking Kitty Cat viral videos, died of a self-inflicted gun injury on Thursday morning, his grieving wife confirmed.

In a Facebook statement, Celia DeCosta Cash wrote: “This is very difficult. I’m not even sure what to say or, in fact, what to do. I just lost my best friend, my partner, my lover, my mentor, my Absolutely everything, this morning.

“I am sad to say that my husband, Steve Cash, took his own life this morning 04/16/2020. It pains me to share this.

“Please understand, give the family time to cry, but know that Steve is no longer in pain.”

The Idaho Nampa Police Department reportedly responded to a call to Cash’s home Thursday morning and found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There is no indication of foul play, reports E!

Cash had previously opened up to his fans about his battles with his mental health.

The animal lover became a viral star in 2007 with his Talking Kitty Cat YouTube videos and amassed more than 2.4 million subscribers.

He delighted fans with clips that showed him talking to his cats as if they were human and mimicking their responses.

Her most popular video, Bad! Bad! Bad !, it attracted more than 17 million viewers to the site.

Fans noticed that Cash’s account has become inactive in recent months.

In September, he replied to one of his followers who asked him if he had been hacked.

“No, just bipolar. I’m on a maniac right now. When I go back to depression, I’ll give it all up,” he replied.

After the tragic news of his death was confirmed, many fans turned to social media to pay tribute.

“We will all miss him. He made smiles on the faces of many people with his content, he was an amazing guy. It is very sad to hear about this. It was an important part of my childhood. Rest in peace my friend, we all love you and I miss you”, one said.

“We will always love you. Thank you for your amazing work that made us laugh and feel safe. God bless you,” another fan of Cash’s videos tweeted.
