Raheem Sterling (£ 11.4 million) and João Cancelo (£ 5.5 million) have made surprise appearances in Manchester City’s starting eleven for week 11 of the game.
The two players missed the win over Burnley last time out and were extensively involved in the Champions League action in the middle of the week.
That had convinced many that the two would be benched in the next Premier League game, but both start against Fulham.
Sterling plays on the left side of a trio of offensive midfielders, along with Kevin De Bruyne (£ 11.7 million) and Riyad mahrez (£ 8.4 million), while Cancello is preferred to Kyle walker (£ 6.2 million) on the right-hand side, rather than the left, which sees Benjamin mendy (£ 5.9 million) make a second straight start in the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola was known to favor a rotation policy in which players miss the first game of a three-game week and play the two seconds in a row, even if they are close together.
Ferran torres (£ 6.9 million) and Walker had recently had back-to-back Premier League starts, but neither figure in today’s first XI.
The former is on the bench, while Walker is not on the squad at all, although Guardiola has reported that he is not injured. That’s the most classic of Pep we’ll ever get.
Gabriel Jesus (£ 9.4 million) leads Manchester City’s attacking line, while De Bruyne appears to be in a No.10 role rather than being a member of a trio of central midfielders.
Meanwhile, Fulham remains unchanged from the team that beat Leicester 2-1, which sees Ivan Caballero (£ 5.3m) acts as a lone center forward, Ademola Lookman (£ 5.0 million) and Bobby De Cordova-Reid (£ 5.3m) providing the width on both sides of Ruben Loftus-Cheek (£ 5.9 million).
For the second Gameweek in a row, Tom cairney (£ 5.3 million) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (£ 5.6 million) are named in the bank.
