Mark Hamill criticized Senator Mitch McConnell after he laughed while being questioned about the federal response to the coronavirus in the Kentucky debate on Monday.
“McConnell’s upbeat laugh when McGrath talks about his failures in COVID is … what pure evil looks like,” the 69-year-old veteran actor tweeted.
Hamill, best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars anthology, added the hashtag #Chilling to the post.

The sequence came when his Democratic opponent Amy McGrath asked McConnell about the pandemic, while the retired U.S. Marine Corps fighter pilot questioned him about the federal response.
McGrath said the Republican leader’s response amounted to a “breach of duty” amid misplaced priorities at the highest levels of government.
“ His only job is to help America get through this crisis right now by passing legislation to keep our economy afloat so that people can make ends meet and instead of trying to get through a nominated for the Supreme Court right now, rather than bargaining, which is what he should have been doing all summer to make that happen, ” he said.
The incumbent senator, who is running for his seventh term, downplayed his platform: “I think her entire campaign is: she’s a Marine, she’s a mother, and I’ve been there too long.”

The debate came before Kentucky began collecting ballots through in-person voting, in addition to absentee ballots already arriving.
In the debate, McGrath cited his military background in contrast to what he called partisan politics on McConnell’s part by blaming Democrats for the inability to reach agreements.
“If you want to call yourself a leader, you have to get things done,” he said. “Those of us who serve in the Marines, we don’t just point the finger to the other side, we get the job done.”
The Star Wars actor often gives his political views via social media, calling President Donald Trump “the worst president in US history” in a separate tweet.
