Police are investigating after three people were injured in Exeter today (Boxing Day) in a stabbing.
Devon and Cornwall police were called to Arena Park in Exeter’s Beacon Heath area around 1:39 pm to receive reports of “multiple stabbings”.
The witnesses saw several police officers and paramedics around Harrington Lane and Arena Park, as well as “between ten and fifteen” emergency service vehicles and a helicopter.
Police say “all the men and their dogs” appeared to be on the street after the incident due to the high police presence, but it is understood that locals were initially asked to stay indoors for their safety.
Police confirmed to DevonLive that “there is no broader threat to the public.”
An individual, a man in his 50s, is detained and the knife used in the alleged incident has been recovered.

Initial police information
Police officers were called to Arena Park in Exeter at 1:39 p.m. to receive reports of “multiple stabbings,” a spokesperson told DevonLive.
Officers, including firearms officers, attended the incident and were able to recover the knife used in the alleged stabbings.
Three people, all adults, were injured in the incident. Fortunately, none of their injuries was life-changing or life-threatening.
A 50-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody.
Latest information from Devon and Cornwall Police
Force Incident Manager for Devon and Cornwall Police Alistair Fry says officers understand that a window was broken during the incident, but they do not believe that the alleged assailant damaged any other windows.
Two of the three adults injured in the alleged stabbing incident received “minor” injuries, also known as minor injuries, police say.
The third adult received injuries, but “they were not stab wounds.”
The incident was “quite brief,” a police spokesman told Devon Live, “there is no broader threat to the public.”
The 50-year-old man arrested after the incident remains in detention. It is not yet known whether the incident was random or planned.
The man has not yet been identified by police.
