A 34-year-old man was stabbed and “seriously injured” in Ellesmere Port this afternoon in what police believe is a targeted attack.
He was taken by air ambulance to Aintree Hospital where he remains in a “serious condition”.
At 11:56 am, police were called after a man was reported to have been stabbed at the intersection of Cambridge Road and Whitby Road, in what police believe was a “targeted attack”.
Several police vehicles attended, as well as an air ambulance, which had to land next to a children’s play area in Whitby Park.

Two men, ages 44 and 45, were arrested on Whitby Road on suspicion of Section 18 assault and detained.
Police remain in the area while investigations are ongoing, but are requesting that witnesses to the incident be brought forward.
Chief Inspector Gary Smith of the Port of Ellesmere Local Police Unit said: “I understand that police activity today will have caused concern in the local community.
“I want to assure residents that we believe this is a targeted incident and that we have made two arrests as part of our ongoing investigations.
“There will be officers on the streets to reassure residents, and if you have any concerns, speak to them.
“I know that several people were in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident.
“I ask that you come forward to help with our investigation.
“If anyone has any dashcam information or footage, please contact me by calling 101 and quoting IML 703803.”
