Firefighters have rescued several people from an alleged gas explosion and a building collapse in Southall.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) specialist search teams, including a search dog, are running a complex operation and are using specialized equipment to search a store and floors above it on King Street in the Southall area of Ealing, where the explosion occurred early Wednesday, October 21.
An LFB spokesman said: “There has been a structural collapse of the building involving a store with floors above.”
Station commander Alan Brand, who is at the scene, said: “Four adults and a child have been rescued from the rear of the property by firefighters using a ladder.
“Another 14 adults and two children were evacuated by themselves from the surrounding properties. Teams of specialists are searching the building for anyone else who may be involved.”
“This is an ongoing operation and I would ask people to avoid the area if possible.”
