West Brom manager Slaven Bilic could be fired on Wednesday.
The Baggies hierarchy is understood to have been deliberating whether to make a change for several weeks as the club struggles to cope with life in the Premier League.
High-level figures related to the club had warned against it and called for Bilic, 52, to have more time.
However, the Chinese ownership of Albion is believed to be veering towards a different conclusion, which would make Bilic the first Premier League manager to leave his job this season.
When Bilic was asked about his future after the draw at the Etihad Stadium, he said: “I am very calm. I love my job, I enjoy it and I am working hard for myself and my staff for the club.”
“Everything else is out of my control. I’m just doing the best I can. I don’t mind what’s going on behind the scenes, I don’t care.”
Sam Allardyce, Nigel Pearson, Mark Hughes and Eddie Howe They are all reportedly candidates to replace the former head of Croatia and West Ham.
Bilic has been in charge of The Hawthorns since 2019, when he replaced Darren Moore and guided West Brom back to the Premier League in his first season in charge.
However, the promotion was only secured on the final day when Albion finished the season with three points from its last four games.
Then there was uncertainty behind the scenes, as the financial investment that Bilic wanted did not materialize.
Although the club spent £ 45 million, a large part of that was on permanent signing of players who had spent last season there on loan.
Bilic then spent £ 15 million on Huddersfield striker Karlan Grant, who scored once in 10 appearances and blew a glorious opportunity against City while the score was still 0-0.
Uncertainty about Bilic’s future has been fueled by his admission that there have been no talks about a new contract, and his current contract expires in the summer.
West Brom did not respond to calls about Bilic Tuesday night.
