Slaven Bilic has confirmed that Conor Gallagher missed West Brom’s loss to Southampton on Sunday because he was ill.
The Chelsea loan player played 90 minutes and even scored a penalty on penalties when Albion was beaten by Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup last month, but was unavailable last Saturday against parent club Chelsea.
Many expected Gallagher to be involved last weekend against the Saints, but Bilic opted to leave him at home. The midfielder had not been feeling well, but it is also understood that Bilic was eager to train for a couple of weeks at Gallagher, taking advantage of the upcoming international break before unleashing the loan at Burnley later this month.

Bilic’s only concern for injuries in the game was Hal Robson-Kanu.
The forward, a second-half substitute for Callum Robinson, was trampled during a game pass in the second half of the 2-0 loss and clearly suffered severe pain afterward.
After being treated by Albion’s doctors, Robson-Kanu, a Welsh international once again, had his wrist tied for the remainder of the match, but still appeared to be in agony throughout the match.
Bilic is optimistic that Robson-Kanu is not a concern.
“Yes, it is a wrist injury,” he confirmed. “Your player stood on your wrist or arm. It is very painful. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. “
