Six more coronavirus-related deaths recorded in Greater Manchester hospitals

Six other coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in Greater Manchester hospitals.

It means that the total death toll in England’s hospitals is now 29,735.

England’s NHS recorded another 16 deaths nationwide today (Saturday).

The patients were between 69 and 97 years old and all had known underlying health problems.

The dates of the deaths were between August 19 and September 18, most from September 17.

Six of them were in Greater Manchester hospitals.

One death was recorded at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, another at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, and another at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Three deaths were recorded in the Tameside and Glossop Intergrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The total number of deaths from coronavirus in hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Saturday 19 September, is currently:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust – 234
  • Greater Manchester NHS Mental Health Foundation Trust – 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust – 459
  • NHS Nightingale Northwest Hospital – 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust – 572
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust – 6
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust – 191
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust – 235
  • Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust – 264
  • Christie NHS Foundation Trust – 13
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust – 253

Every day the NHS in England publishes the number of deaths recorded by each hospital trust in the last 24 hours.

These are deaths in which the person tested positive for the virus or in which COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England daily figures sometimes include previously unaccounted deaths and do not include deaths in nursing homes or community settings.
