“She was screaming ‘bring someone here'”: a 16-year-old woman she watched in horror as a teenager took one last breath after stabbing

A woman watched in horror as a teenage boy ‘took his last breath’ after he was stabbed to death in north Manchester.

The resident was on the phone with the ambulance service yelling “ bring someone here ” as the 16-year-old lay dying on the road in Moston, she told the Manchester evening news .

Since then, the victim has been identified as Alexander John Soyoye, known as John.

His family described him as an “extraordinary man who was full of energy, intelligence and love.”

A tribute on the scene

The tragedy unfolded on Birchenall Street around 7 p.m. Thursday night.

Police said John, also known as his nickname MD, was fatally wounded after an altercation involving “several men armed with guns.”

A man has been arrested on suspicion of his murder.

The 18-year-old arrived at the hospital with apparent stab wounds of his own later Thursday night, GMP said in a statement.

He remains in the hospital for treatment.

The tragedy unfolded on Birchenall Street around 7 p.m. Thursday night.

The witness said she was standing outside her home with her mother and some friends when she heard screams from further down the street.

“I went there when I heard people screaming. Someone said ‘they have cut it. I went up to see what had happened.

“I ran with my two brothers,” he recalled.

The 16-year-old was fatally injured during an altercation

At first he thought he could see a backpack in the distance on the road, but as he got closer he “saw feet,” he said.

First he saw the boy alone on the ground.

‘Another boy’ called out the boy’s name, he said.

There was a box of machetes to one side of him, he added.

“I called the ambulance. My brother told me to ‘call someone.’

“I was yelling ‘get someone here,'” he recalled.

“He was bleeding from his chest and arm.

“He was looking forward, it was like he was drowning. Then we knew he was gone.

“He took his last breath in front of me,” he said.

Police arrived “in seconds,” he said, and the ambulance took about 20 minutes.

“They did CPR for about 20 minutes,” he added.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was visibly shocked by the tragedy.

“I couldn’t sleep last night, I felt like I had taken something to stay awake,” she said.

A shrine was installed on a nearby road after the tragedy.

Flowers and candles were placed under a banner reading ‘RIP MD, GBNF (missing but not forgotten)’ in tribute to the teenager on Friday.

Friends at the scene described him as friendly and said he was a talented musician who uploads videos to YouTube.

In a tribute, his family said: “He was an extraordinary man who was full of energy, intelligence and love. His energy was felt by all who knew him.

“He was smart, loving and friendly and we will miss him, but they will remember him.”

Forensic officers were photographed combing the area for clues as police cordons remained in place on various roads Friday.

Chief Detective Insp Alan Clitherow of GMP’s main investigation team said: “First, we want to express our deepest condolences to the family of this young man who has been tragically killed.

“All our thoughts are with them as they try to come to terms with this devastating loss and we have a dedicated team of officers around them to support them.

“Our investigation is progressing, but we urge the public to contact the police if they believe they have information that could assist us in our investigations. We believe this has been a targeted attack and we trust that there are people who know what happened or know the identity of those involved.

“Any information could be vital to our investigation, so do the right thing and submit the information through the Public Major Incident Portal. This young man’s family deserves justice and we need the help of the community to locate those involved. ”

The detectives are now issuing a new appeal to the public for information and have launched a Public Major Incident Portal and are urging members of the public to submit any information that may help them with their inquiries.
