Scott Brown in sweat from Celtic suspension as compliance officer given deadline for Aberdeen ‘elbow’ charges

Scott Brown is facing sweat over possible retrospective punishment for the Celtic captain’s alleged elbow violation during Sunday’s thriller Pittodrie.

The Hoops midfielder, as a substitute in the 70th minute, was caught on camera and appeared to catch Scott Wright off the ball as he tried to block the Aberdeen man on a throw-in in the later stages of the 3-3 tie.

Wright was seen holding his mouth after the
incident, but referee Willie Collum took no action and, as would be a fast-track case, SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte has until 3 p.m. Tuesday to decide whether to be cited.

Celtic were furious the last time a player was retrospectively punished with a two-game ban on Ryan Christie for grabbing Alfredo Morelos in an Old Firm clash last December.

The Parkhead club criticized that decision, stating that they were “absolutely shocked” that their player had been cited by the compliance officer.

That came after Celtic bosses called for a meeting with the SFA 12 months earlier, after Morelos escaped retrospective action for incidents during the match.
