A statement from the club read: “Sadio Mane has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently self-isolating according to necessary guidelines.
“The forward, who started and scored in Monday’s 3-1 win over Arsenal, has shown minor symptoms of the virus, but is feeling good overall.
“However, as with Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool Football Club follows, and will continue to comply, all protocols related to Covid-19 and Mane will self-isolate for the required period of time.”
Thiago missed the Arsenal game after his own positive test and he and Mane will be absent for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa.

Coach Jurgen Klopp will hope to have both players available when the Reds return to action after the international break in the Merseyside derby on October 17 at Everton.
Mane has been in good shape this season, scoring both goals in Liverpool’s win over Chelsea before also scoring against the Gunners.

His forced isolation will also affect his international commitments after Mane was named to Senegal’s team for their upcoming friendlies against Morocco and Mauritania.

He has had a positive start to the season with Liverpool, scoring three Premier League goals in as many games this season.
