Rupert Murdoch-owned US Media Turn Against Trump, Urging Him to Act “Gracefully” | US News

Multiple conservative media outlets owned by Rupert Murdoch in the United States have changed their messages in an apparent effort to warn readers and viewers that Donald Trump may well have lost the presidential election.

The new message appears to be closely coordinated and includes a call for Trump to preserve his “legacy” by showing grace in defeat. The message airs on Fox News and in the Wall Street Journal and New York Post, all media avidly consumed by Trump himself, especially Fox.

A Fox News anchor, Laura Ingraham, close to the president since speaking at the 2016 Republican national convention, made a startling statement that seemed to be addressed to Trump personally, advising him to accept defeat “if that happens” with “grace and composure.” and appealing to his sense of his own heritage.

Ingraham said in part: “If this is the time to accept an unfavorable outcome in this election, and we hope it never comes, but if that happens, President Trump should do so with the same grace and composure that he demonstrated in that town hall with Savannah Guthrie. Many people commented on his tone and presence. Exactly what you need.

“Now losing, especially when you think the process was not fair, is a punch. And I won’t concede anything tonight, by the way. But losing, if that’s what happens, is horrible. But President Trump’s legacy will only be more meaningful if he focuses on moving the country forward. “

The Wall Street Journal has published an op-ed with almost exactly the same message. It is titled “The Presidential End” and subtitles “Trump has the right to fight in court, but he needs evidence to prove electoral fraud.”

“Trump’s legacy will be greatly diminished if his final act is a bitter refusal to accept legitimate defeat,” the article warns.

Here’s how the article opens: “Perhaps it was inevitable that Donald Trump’s re-election campaign would end when his presidency began: with the president proclaiming victory and his frenzied antagonists denouncing him as a would-be fascist. The reality is that the United States can and will likely have a normal election result regardless of the screaming between now and then.

“Mr. Biden is leading in enough states to win the presidency, and if those votes survive the tallies and legal challenges, he will be the next president.”

Featured editors of the New York Post that before the election was the launch vehicle for savage and desperate attacks on Joe Biden’s son Hunter, “They have told some staff members this week to be tougher on their coverage” of Trump, the New York Times reported, citing two anonymous newspaper employees.

The Times article read: “On Thursday, in a sudden change in attitude, Rupert Murdoch’s tabloid ran two articles with a tremendously different tone. One accused the president of making an “unfounded claim that political enemies were trying to steal the elections.” The other’s headline described Donald Trump Jr as the ‘panicked’ author of a ‘clueless tweet.’

News coverage on Fox News has also shown little patience with the lies about voter fraud that Trump is advancing in hopes of reversing the election.

When asked about the Trump campaign’s claim that Republican observers had not been allowed to observe the vote count, the Fox correspondent flatly states: “That’s not true. Is not true. It’s just not true. “

It’s * amazing * to see Rupert Murdoch assert his power and realize the degree to which * he * is the true center of power in all of this. https://t.co/z3VBvsqVLV
