Rupert Grint is expecting his first child.
The Harry Potter star has announced that his partner Georgia Groome is pregnant.
The actor, best known for playing Ron Weasley in the magic franchise, shared the news on Friday night.
A representative for the couple said: “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce that they are expecting a baby and would ask for privacy at this time.”
Rupert, 31, and Angus, Tangas, and Perfect Snogging star Georgia, 28, have been together since 2011.
Last year, Rupert and Georgia sparked marriage rumors when they were spotted wearing what appeared to be matching wedding rings.
They left fans convinced that they had married after they were photographed wearing their new jewelry, but a spokesperson denied that they had married.
After turning 30, Rupert had spoken of his hopes of starting a family soon.
He said, “Turning 30 felt strange. It just doesn’t seem like it’s there yet and I don’t know what the future holds.”
“I’m going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens.
“I would like to settle down and have children soon. If I had a child, would I call him Ron?
“It’s a pretty good name, but probably not. And Grint is a difficult name to match a one-syllable name.”
Rupert, who found fame as a child in the movie series based on JK Rowling’s books, once said that he will only see the first three.
In an interview with Radio Times, he admitted that he “couldn’t” see anything after the third movie, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
He said, “I think those firsts are fine. It’s been longer. I can separate myself a little more from that child.”
However, Rupert has only seen the first movie once since its 2001 release.
He said, “I saw Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone not too long ago, for the first time since the premiere, and I really enjoyed looking back.
“But I definitely couldn’t do the most recent ones. I could probably go to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”
