And the Frenchman posted an encouraging image on social media showing his injured hand, saying he “almost cried” when he was told he no longer needed the full bandage and that he could use his finger.
My right hand this morning. The happiness I had when I was told that I no longer needed the full bandage and that I could use my finger was enormous. Almost cry. A victory on my road to recovery pic.twitter.com/QuZojM1mZe

Grosjean miraculously escaped with minor injuries when, on the first lap of Sunday’s race, his Haas car collided with Daniil Kvyat’s AlphaTauri, broke through the safety barrier at 137 mph, snapped in two and the front section, which contained the driver, burst into flames.
In less than 20 seconds, the 34-year-old had emerged from the burning rubble to be helped into an ambulance by F1 medical director Dr. Ian Roberts and medical driver Alan van der Merwe.
Since Sunday night, Grosjean has been keeping the world updated on his progress at the hospital, including the first video interview Tuesday in which he said he “saw death coming” and that the accident had “marked him for good. lifetime”.

Haas has already announced that its reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi will replace Grosjean for the Sakhir Grand Prix weekend, which takes place in a different and shorter configuration of the Bahrain International Circuit.
A decision on whether Grosjean will be able to bid farewell to Team Haas at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has yet to be confirmed.
In October it was announced that Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen would be released by Haas for 2021 and their successors have now been confirmed as Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher.
Team principal Guenther Steiner revealed on Tuesday that Grosjean is still willing to race in Abu Dhabi, but that will obviously depend on how quickly his injuries heal.
Grosjean, meanwhile, tweeted a message to Schumacher that read: “Welcome to F1 Mick. You’ll be competing with some awesome [lesson] in the team. Take care of them and they will return it to you at 1000% ”.
