British actor Robert Pattinson reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, forcing filming on his new film The Batman to be suspended in the UK.

Warner Bros said a member of the production had coronavirus and was isolating himself, but has not confirmed the individual’s name.

Vanity Fair and the Hollywood Reporter said the person who tested positive was Pattinson, who plays the caped crusader in the new box office hit. The reports cited unidentified sources.

“A member of The Batman production tested positive for COVID-19 and is isolating himself according to established protocols. Filming is temporarily halted,” said a Warner Bros. spokeswoman.

Production on the film resumed near London just days ago after a nearly six-month hiatus due to the pandemic.

Filming for the DC Comics feature began in Glasgow earlier this year, and director Matt Reeves has said that about a quarter of the film has been shot so far.

Twilight star Pattinson follows in the footsteps of Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Val Kilmer and George Clooney in his portrayal of the Dark Knight.

Batman was originally supposed to be in theaters next June, but it was delayed until October 1, 2021.

Among the villains in the new film will be The Riddler played by Paul Dano and Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz).

Last month, the first trailer was released, showing the pair, as well as Pattinson as a brooding Bruce Wayne, a dark and gritty Gotham, and Batman’s new Batmobile and Batcycle.

The two-minute video, which premiered at the DC FanDome virtual convention, is set on Nirvana’s haunting 1991 track Something In The Way.

The trailer begins with an anonymous villain covering the head of a victim. Although his identity is obscured by a gas mask, it seems likely that he is The Riddler.

“No more lies” is written on the duct tape with a red marker.

A distorted voice, believed to be that of The Riddler, reads a rhyme: “From your secret friend. Who? You have no idea? Let’s play a game, just you and me.”

Later the same voice is heard saying: “If you are justice, please do not lie. What is the price for your blind eye?”

The Riddler is a criminal genius who loves to incorporate word games and riddles into his evil schemes.
