Robert Pattinson reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, forcing filming on The Batman to halt.

Sources told Vanity Fair that the 34-year-old actor contracted the deadly virus just days after production on the big-budget film resumed.

It comes after MailOnline revealed that filming of the new Batman movie has been stopped after a team member tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement, Warner Bros. told the publication: ‘A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19 and is isolating himself according to established protocols. Filming is temporarily paused. ‘

Other sources claimed that the person in question was Robert, meaning he will have to be quarantined for two weeks before work on the film can continue.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Robert Pattinson and Warner Bros. for further comment.

It comes after MailOnline exclusively revealed that the production of The Batman had been thrown into chaos after a team member tested positive for coronavirus.

Sources from the successful £ 100 million set said the cast and crew had been sent home after one of the team members was struck by the virus.

A study source in Leavesden said: ‘They have sent us a memo telling us that a team member has had a positive Covid-19 test.

Everybody was talking about it on set. We don’t know who has tested positive, but it has caused chaos on the calendar. ‘

Filming on The Batman had only resumed three days ago after being closed in early March due to the pandemic.

Production crews had met at the Leavesden, Hertfordshire studios in August to work on the sets after most of them were on leave.

The shutdown will cost Warner Bros hundreds of thousands of pounds and possibly even delay the release of the film, which is said to be a braver take on the DC comic book hero.

When production stopped in March, Robert had to stay in the UK along with other members of the cast.

Others living in Los Angeles have returned, but had to stay in quarantine for two weeks before appearing on set according to government guidelines.

Director Matt Reeves still has three months of filming to complete with the long-awaited film set to hit theaters in October 2021.

Filming in Leavesden, where the Harry Potter films were made, is taking place under the working title ‘Revenge’.

The crew member said: ‘Everyone was eager to get back to work and it has been a shock that production stopped just three days after we started filming.

“We’ve all been told to withdraw until further notice and we don’t expect to film again for two weeks.”

The source said many members of the team found it ironic that the Batman movie had been stopped by the coronavirus, as the killer virus is believed to have originated in bats.

“There is an irony in all this that you would think Batman would be immune since it all started with bats,” said the source.

Robert, best known for his roles in the Twilight films, took on the role of the caped crusader last year after Ben Affleck, who had been developing the ninth Batman movie, stepped down.

Irish star Colin Farrell plays The Penguin, and his prosthetic makeup was so realistic that other castmates didn’t recognize the actor when he appeared on set.

Jeffrey Wright, who plays Commissioner Gordon, said on The Jess Cagle Show: ‘I’ve worked with that makeup artist before and he’s just amazing.

Colin walked to the set one day and I walked right past him [laughs] I was like, “OK, hey dude, what’s going on? Where’s Colin? Shall we shoot?” It was, it’s quite remarkable. ‘

The transformation was revealed in a trailer released last week by director Reeves at a fan event in the United States.

The new movie sees Batman taking on his usual enemies with Paul Dano playing The Riddler.

Zoe Kravitz plays Catwoman and John Turturro plays crime boss Carmine Falcone.

At the time, a spokesperson for Warner Bros studios was contacted for comment.
