West Ham coach Kevin Nolan says he does not think it was Mikel Arteta’s decision to exclude Mesut Ozil from Arsenal this season.
Ozil was not included in Arsenal’s 25-player Premier League squad this season and has drawn attention for his vocal support of the team on social media.
Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, Hammers first team coach Nolan doesn’t think Arteta would have chosen to exclude a player of Ozil’s talent by choice.
He said: “I will not allow the problem to be between Ozil and Arteta, I think he is older and they tell him that he cannot use it.”

“Now, from being a coach and a coach, when you have someone of his quality and he’s tweeting, the way he comes out and can be perceived.
“When you’re winning matches and he’s tweeting, no one is really interested. Suddenly Ozil’s tweets are becoming popular, even I hear about them and I’m not on social media.
“For me, once you’ve gotten rid of all these players sitting in the background and start having individuals of your own, then you’ll start to see a true side of Arteta.”
Nolan has urged the Gunners to stick with Arteta even despite his recent poor form.
The former England international feels that the Gunners manager has had to change the club’s culture and should have the opportunity to recruit his own players into future transfer markets.
He said: “I don’t think they should change coaches or seek to do that.
“The problem, I think, when I look from the outside in, there is a concern that I am asking the players to do something that they can’t do.
“They can do it for a certain number of games, but they can’t do it consistently to be a top team.
“I think given the opportunity for some transfer windows for him to bring in the quality of the players, he will get to that stage.

“It’s about having patience as a board and being there when you go through these tough times.
“I think this is what Arsenal have gotten from the lack of central hiring and the lack of planning.”
He continued: “What it seems is that he has gone in there, he has fixed himself in the back, like when you go to Arsenal now it is a totally different feeling than it was with Unai Emery.
“It seems like he’s making the whole place vibrate again, now there’s a nice feeling at Arsenal.”
