Chancellor Rishi Sunak was reportedly barred from a pub in his constituency after voting against a plan to extend free school meals for children during the holidays.

The Labor motion was rejected by 322 votes to 261 on Wednesday, as families across the country face financial difficulties during the coronavirus pandemic.

Alex Cook, owner of The Mill pub and his Il Mulino restaurant in Stokesley, North Yorkshire, has confirmed that he will be denied entry to Sunak.

Conservative MPs Jacob Young, Simon Clarke and Matt Vickers will also be excluded after voting against Marcus Rashford’s proposal.

Speaking to Sky News, Cook said it was a “personal protest” to get people to pay attention.

He said: ‘I thought it was the only way I could get people to listen and see how bad the decision is to allow children to starve in 2020.

‘Anyone with a decent moral compass would realize that for a government that has spent £ 12bn on a failed test and trace system, not funding food for starving children is ridiculous and cannot be allowed to happen’ ‘.

Cook claims to have been ‘harassed’ by Sunak supporters after making his decision, but says he has also received a lot of support from others.

He is not aware that Mr Sunak has visited the pub before, but says the chancellor “definitely knows it exists”.

Cook has admitted that he would not normally punish a community member for problems related to his job function, but insisted that he must stand up for what he believes.

He said: ‘If I have bothered people with this, I sincerely apologize and appreciate everything the government has done for me and other companies during this pandemic, but I had to do this.’

Many local authorities, pubs, cafes and restaurants have announced that they will step in and provide food to children facing poverty during the October semester.

Footballer Mr. Rashford said he would close Twitter “with a feeling of pride” tonight.

He said: ‘The superstars of this nation are found in local communities. Even after taking the biggest hits, he has wrapped his arms around his community to catch the children as they fell. I really can’t thank you enough, you are amazing. ‘

Sunak’s office has declined to comment.
