Richarlison appeared to question the severity of his challenge to Thiago Alcantara after Liverpool’s draw with Everton on Saturday.

The Brazilian forward received a direct red card in the second half of the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park for his knee-high challenge to the Liverpool midfielder.

Later, Richarlison apologized for the tackle, saying the challenge was “a consequence of great dedication.”

The 23-year-old also revealed that he personally sent an apology to Thiago after the match.

But the authenticity of Richarlison’s apology has now been questioned by Liverpool supporters after he responded to a challenge post on Twitter with a picture of his painful reaction after the entry was made.

Richarlison accompanied the image with a pensive face emoji, which many interpreted as a hint that the challenge was not as severe as initially believed.

Subsequently, the Brazilian deleted the post on Twitter.

Thiago managed to complete the match, but Jurgen Klopp later revealed that the midfielder was injured by Richarlison’s challenge.

“I leave the field and Thiago tells me that in the red card situation with Richarlison he thinks he was injured,” said the Liverpool manager.

‘We’ll see if it’s true or not. When a player feels like this, we’ll take a look at him right away.

The Spanish international could now be a doubt for Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Ajax on Wednesday.
