Police searching for the missing diplomat Richard Morris found a body in the woods where he jogged regularly.
Detectives have not formally identified the body, but Morris’s family has been informed of the discovery.
The 52-year-old former UK Ambassador to Nepal disappeared on May 6 after jogging from his home in the Hampshire town of Bentley.
Police searched Alice Holt Forest near Farnham and other areas where the father-of-three was known to run regularly, but reduced his operation a month later.
They asked for sightings from other racers and asked them to verify their profile on the running Strava app, while motorists were asked for footage from dash cameras.
Hampshire police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Morris’s family is supported by specialized officers, Hampshire police said.
The diplomat was last seen by a member of the public around 10.50am on May 6, running on Isington Road, Alton.
Officers logged more than 3.4 square miles (9 square kilometers) of land and water in Alice Holt Forest, as well as areas of Alton and Binstead.
They also viewed CCTV footage and conducted house-to-house investigations, but found nothing in June when they stopped the search.
Mr. Morris was a regular participant in the weekly Alice Holt race on Saturdays, a 5 km route around the forest along tracks, trails and bike paths.
He was the UK’s ambassador to Nepal between 2015 and November 2019, and was with Prince Harry during his tour of the country in 2016.
Before that, he headed the Pacific department at the Foreign Ministry and held senior diplomatic positions, including in Australia and Mexico.
