Ricciardo was glad that Hamilton’s Covid-19 test didn’t decide the title fight

Bottom line: Daniel Ricciardo is happy that Lewis Hamilton’s positive Covid-19 test did not influence the outcome of the championship.

What they say

Ricciardo noted that Hamilton’s absence due to his diagnosis ultimately gave Jack Aitken his F1 debut.

Fortunately for him, the championship is tied. Obviously it would be the worst way in the world to lose a championship because of this. I think 2020 has been quite strange. So I think that’s the half-glass approach or at least the mindset is that you have it wrapped up.

As long as you hopefully only have mild symptoms and it’s nothing obviously serious then I think you can, you may be relatively fine with this one and miss this one.

For the others, they have seen that the whole grid is now really altered. George [Russell] he obviously has a chance to have that seat and try and that then moved Jack to his seat. So obviously when one door closes another opens for some.

The important thing is that Lewis has mild symptoms, is fine and recovers quickly and I think it is the best of a bad situation.
