Police are investigating after shooting was shot on a quiet residential street in Dingle on Friday night.

Around 8.45 p.m. M., Officers were called to Sundridge Street to report damage to a home. This has been confirmed to be caused by a firearm. No one was injured, but the occupants of the house were extremely shocked.

The area around Sundridge Street was cordoned off at both ends in the hours after the incident. Homes have been carried out in the area and forensic, CCTV and witness investigations are underway.

A nearby resident described to ECHO that he heard a rapid succession of blows that night.

Detective Inspector Lisa Ryan said: “At this stage, we are keeping an open mind as to the reasons behind this incident. Firing a gun at houses is incredibly reckless and could easily have ended in tragedy. Fortunately, although the occupants were understandably shocked, no one was injured this time.

“We work hard together with the community and partners to address gun crime and other serious and organized crime in all of our communities, which has led to a decrease in the number of incidents in recent years. But the key to bringing those responsible to justice is the information provided by the people who live in the area and are affected.

“If you saw, heard or captured anything in the Sundridge Street area around 8:45 tonight, please come in and we will take action. Your CCTV, dash cam or witness account could make a difference. ”
