Captain James Tavernier praised the Rangers’ “monumental” achievement as they were crowned Scottish champions for the first time in 10 years.
Steven Gerrard’s team, which beat St Mirren 3-0 on Saturday, have a 20-point lead with six games remaining and have denied Celtic a 10th consecutive title.
It is the first trophy of former Liverpool and England captain Gerrard as coach in his third season at Ibrox.
“There are no words that can describe it,” Tavernier told Rangers TV.
“I am absolutely delighted by the club, the players and especially the fans.
“Doing it this year with everything related to this season is monumental. We wanted consistency and the guys have been absolutely wonderful. I’m so proud of them.”
It is the first victory of a Scottish title in chronological terms and ends Celtic’s bid for an unprecedented 10th consecutive crown.
The Rangers have lost just eight points in an undefeated Scottish Premiership campaign so far, and their victory on Saturday was their 28th win in 32 games.
He has scored 77 goals and conceded only nine, of which only two have been at Ibrox.
The Glasgow club were at the bottom echelon of Scottish football in 2012 after its financial collapse, and returned to the top flight five years ago.
The Rangers’ first game as champions will be Old Firm’s third game of the season at Celtic Park on March 21.
‘Gerrard had to fix the whole club’ – analysis
Scotland’s BBC Senior Sports Writer Tom English
When Gerrard took over as coach, he not only had a team to rebuild, he had a whole club to fix. Recruitment, exploration, and attitude: He had to undress and start over.
For a rookie boss in the white heat of Glasgow soccer against the red-hot Brendan Rodgers it was an Everest challenge, but Gerrard put the building blocks in place, slowly, too slow for many, but sure.
His board supported him, he bought wisely and grew. Gerrard has converted a 39-point deficit over Celtic on the season before reaching a 20-point lead. A difference of 59 points. This is a nirvana thing for all Rangers fans.
‘They deserve it’ – reaction
Graeme Souness, former Rangers player and coach: “Delighted by Steven Gerrard and his entire team. Celtic have had a period of dominance, which has been, I would say, uncomfortable for us Rangers fans. They deserve it. They have been fantastic all season and I just wish I was on Glasgow right now. “
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher: “They must have been terrified for years that record [nine straight titles] would have been defeated by Celtic. When Gerrard came in, that was the name of the game to prevent Celtic from making it through. They have come a long way, but they are waiting for the glory days to return. “
Former Rangers captain Lee McCulloch: “It’s been a bit emotional; 10 years is a long time to wait. All Rangers fans around the world will celebrate this tonight.
“The club hit rock bottom. It was a slow climb, but today it’s about Steven Gerrard and his team. The changes Steven has made, the leadership he has shown, the recruiting, on and off the pitch, has been fantastic. “
Former Rangers captain David Weir: “Finishing so early with such a point difference is a credit to the players and the staff. The level of consistency has been incredible. Big credit to Steven Gerrard for the team he has built and the players for facing him. The return of the title to Ibrox. it’s a great relief and a great joy to everyone at the club. “
