The Queen chose photos and moving objects to present in her VE Day speech on her 75th anniversary.
Among the objects in front of the Queen was a photograph of her father, King George VI, in his RAF Winged Fleet Admiral uniform and His Majesty’s Auxiliary Territorial Services cap.
On the table behind The Queen was a photograph of King George VI, Queen Elizabeth, Princess Elizabeth, Princess Margaret, and Winston Churchill on the balcony of Buckingham Palace on VE day, Tuesday, May 8, 1945.
In her speech, the Queen spoke about her memories of that day, saying: “I vividly recall the joyous scenes that my sister and I witnessed with our parents and Winston Churchill from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Her choice of outfit also paid a moving tribute to her father, as he wore Boucheron’s aquamarine and diamond clip brooches given to him by King George VI on his 18th birthday in 1944.
Art Deco brooches were publicly displayed at Buckingham Palace during the 2006 summer opening exhibition.
They are made of aquamarine and diamonds, and in a typical 1940s design they combine baguettes, oval and round stones.

The Queen wore the same powder blue dress with accessories in 2014 during the Queen’s Anniversary Awards for Higher and Higher Education awards ceremony.
It is believed to be one of her favorite jewels.
Dazzling brooches can be worn in several different ways: as matching clips, on any shoulder.
His Majesty generally uses them, as he did in his speech, as separate clips, one on top of the other, on his left shoulder.

In tonight’s speech, the Queen said: “Today I speak to you at the same time as my father, exactly 75 years ago.
“His message then was a salute to the men and women at home and abroad who had sacrificed so much in pursuit of what he rightly called a” great deliverance. “
“The war had been a total war; it had affected everyone, and no one was immune to its impact.
“Whether it be men and women called to serve; families separated from each other; or people asked to take on new roles and skills to support the war effort, everyone had a role to play.
“At first, the outlook seemed bleak, the end distant, the outcome uncertain.
“But we maintained faith that the cause was correct, and this belief, as my father pointed out in his broadcast, helped us.”
