Calm down a bit, as details of start times are still coming in for different countries, but we’ll update this page as soon as we know. This is actually the exact page where we will list where you can pre-order a PS5 from the most trusted retailers along with links directly to them. Now we also know all about the official price of PS5. The PS5 will cost $ 499.99 in the United States and £ 449.99 in the United Kingdom. The PS5 digital edition (no drive here) is priced at $ 399.99 in the US and £ 359.99 in the UK. The PS5 will launch on November 12 in the US and November 19 in the UK.

A $ 100 savings on Sony’s PS5 digital edition is a good savings. However, just to be clear, you won’t be able to play physical games or 4K Blu-Ray players as this is for digital games only. However, otherwise, you will get the same powerful specs as the other PS5.

If you can live on just buying digital games and don’t need the 4K blu-ray player then you can save £ 90 on a PS5. This also prevents you from choosing used games, so think about this carefully.

Sony is actually beating Microsoft in the pre-order punch here, despite the fact that the green team recently announced Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S release dates and confirmed that Xbox Series X pre-orders will be available on September 22, Sony has cut ahead to get that early cash. It’s getting interesting out there, readers.
Frankly, it was about time. We’ve been waiting for PS5 pre-orders for months, and we suspect it was because Sony had been playing a game of chicken with Microsoft. Because the Xbox Series X price and the budget Xbox Series S price are available now, Sony decided to go ahead.

With some retailers, you can register interest by including your email address on their mailing lists. However, we recommend bookmarking this page right here as we will be collecting the best options from a variety of retailers and avoiding all those expensive options with a bunch of non-discounted products that usually fill our inboxes from many retailers.
It’s good to know ahead of time which retailers will be most likely to get PS5 reserve stock for launch, and which ones might be the best fit for you. Here are our highlights of popular US and UK merchants.
US Retailers For PS5 Pre-Orders
Amazon
Arguably, the giant online retailer will be the biggest PS5 reseller with the most units to sell, which could actually make it difficult to find one there if you leave it too late. Amazon Prime members will be willing to buy from here given the express delivery options on offer.
Walmart
The retail giant will have you well covered if it’s their store of choice. You’ll be able to pick it up at the store and order it at home, which will be a great option to get your new console right away. There’s no way Walmart is missing out on a trick with PS5 pre-orders, so naturally those will be the ones to keep in mind when it all starts.
Best Buy
Like Walmart, Best Buy will have the option to pick it up at the store, which could be a better option for many shoppers. Best Buy has been one of the top retailers for console storage during the pandemic when other stores haven’t seen stock in months, so it’s certainly one to keep an eye out for for PS5 pre-orders.
GameStop
A tricky one, given that the once-powerful retailer has spent the last few years on the ropes. Any other outbreak of Covid-19 could put in-store PS5 pre-orders in limbo if the store is unable to physically open. If you buy a PS5 from GameStop but the console fails within the warranty period, we would be concerned that the company is not yet in business to meet it. We figured you could ship it to Sony instead, but it will be a hassle easily avoided by shopping elsewhere.
UK retailers for PS5 pre-orders
Amazon
As in many other countries around the world, Amazon will be a popular choice for PS5 pre-orders in the UK. That popularity will also mean that everyone will be shopping there, so it’s nice to have other options. Fortunately, the UK has managed to maintain a competitive range of console retailers. Let’s see who else deserves a shout-out next.
PC Currys World
The popular electronics retailer has a great online and high street / retail park presence so you have plenty of options. Currys managed to find more console stock than most retailers in recent months during the pandemic, so we think that’s a solid cry for some PS5 pre-orders, maybe even with some bundle action too, since it’s very competitive.
John lewis
PS5 pre-order prices are very likely to be the same at most retailers at launch, so it’s worth the effort to look for any perks. And John Lewis has one that’s not mentioned enough and that’s the free two-year warranty on his electronic devices, which we assume will be included on the PS5 (it will say on the list once it’s online). Other retailers often charge a lot of money to extend beyond the usual 12-month warranty, so we think this is a big problem.
Game
As we mentioned with GameStop in the US, Game is a retailer that hangs from the skin of your teeth. While you’ll be able to find PS5 pre-orders here, both online and in store, the dual threat of more crashes affecting your in-store pickup, and demise of business over the next year is a concern if your PS5 develops a glitch. We thought ordering elsewhere would be prudent.
PS5 pre-orders: how much will they cost?
This is the big question … and right now, all we can say is “insert an educated guess here”. We just don’t know.
Decent estimates have fluctuated wildly. Strong arguments have been made in favor of a premium-priced console of, say, $ 600 to $ 700 or pounds, given how revolutionary the new technology is within the PS5. There have been equally logical thoughts around a lower price tag, one that would even see Sony sell every unit at a loss, like the PS4, of around $ 400 / £ 400 / AU $ 549.
However, in reality, we expect the PS5 to be priced at around $ 499 / £ 499. And the digital version is around $ 50 / £ 50 less. Of course, Microsoft has a slight edge for budget buyers as the Xbox Series S will only cost $ 299 / £ 249, but of course it will be far behind the full power of the Xbox Series X and PS5.
The same is true when it comes to games. On the one hand, we’ve heard how next-gen games will be more expensive ($ 70), but we’ve also had confirmation that Ubisoft 2020 games will cost the same for PS5 and Xbox Series X as they do for the current generation of consoles ( $ 60).
PS5 pre-orders – bundle deals
Let’s face it, any pre-order or console purchase will be much more attractive if you can find a bundle with a great launch game, or one that you are really excited about. PS5 pre-orders will be no different and we know there are plenty of PS5 games to come hitting shelves at that point.
Unfortunately, we are not sure which games would be included. However, we have a good idea. We’d be keeping an eye out for consoles that come with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Cyberpunk 2077. Because they’re the biggest releases this fall, it’s a safe bet that they’ll pair with the console. Similarly, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, exclusive to PS5, is another shoe. Just don’t expect big savings. That’s rare for launch packs, and the cost of a game is much more likely to just add to the standard PlayStation 5 MSRP / RRP price.
However, what about digital game bundles, particularly the PS5 digital edition? That seems equally clear to some extent, as it will be easy to include codes for games (also, it will be absolutely necessary given the lack of a disk drive in the console). If there are any discounts available, we bet this is where you’ll find them.
Before we finish, let’s not forget about the PS5 bundles that add hardware rather than software. We know that a ton of PS5 accessories will be released at the same time, and there will certainly be demand for bundles that include the 3D Pulse Audio Headphones or another DualSense PS5 controller.
