Scientists are looking for volunteers to participate in a new test of the coronavirus vaccine, and will even pay them to participate.
The test is run by the Imperial College NHS Trust, and will take place at four sites across the UK: Bristol, Thames Valley, Southampton and London.
On the trial website, the researchers explained, “The purpose of this study is to test a new vaccine against COVID-19 in healthy volunteers.
“This study will allow us to assess whether healthy people can protect themselves from COVID-19 with this new vaccine called ChAdOx1 nCoV-19.
“It will also give us valuable information on the safety aspects of the vaccine and its ability to generate good immune responses against the virus.

“We will do this by randomizing participants to receive either the COVID-19 vaccine or a control injection, in addition to conducting blood tests and collecting information on any symptoms that occur after vaccination.”
The test will last six months, during which time the volunteers will have to visit a clinic 4 to 12 times, depending on the group they are in.
The researchers explained: “During this study, we will recruit a total of 1,112 volunteers, of whom up to 561 will be vaccinated with the candidate vaccine ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, and up to 551 will be vaccinated with a control vaccine. Volunteers will not be able to see which group they are in. “
While the research could aid in the development of a global vaccine for coronavirus, the researchers note that there are some risks involved.
They added: “The common side effects are slight redness and swelling at the injection site. You may feel like you have flu-like symptoms within 24 hours of getting vaccinated. They usually resolve within 48 hours. “
Depending on the area you live in, you will also receive a refund of up to £ 190- £ 625 for time, travel and contribution to the test.

- Be based on the test catchment area

- They have tested positive for COVID-19
- Being pregnant, with the intention of becoming pregnant or breastfeeding during the study.
- Having previously participated in a trial with an adenoviral vaccine or having received other vaccines against coronavirus.
