PRINCESS Eugenie and her husband Jack have mysteriously left Frogmore Cottage.
Harry and Meghan loaned the couple the five-bedroom cabin to “start their own family.”
Pregnant Eugenie, 30, and Jack, 34, agreed to live in the five-bed, Grade II-listed cabin while the Sussexes were in California.
Harry and Meghan said they were “delighted” to “open their home” to the couple expecting their first child in the new year.
But after just six weeks living in the massively renovated home, the couple packed up their belongings and returned to Kensington Palace.
An insider said: “It’s empty again. Why doesn’t anyone want to live at Frogmore Cottage? What’s wrong with the place?” Buckingham Palace declined to comment and sources said it was a private agreement between Eugenie and Harry.
Eugenie, who was expecting her first child with Jack in the new year, was seen shopping in Kensington, west London, ten days ago.
Harry and Meghan spent £ 2.4 million of taxpayer money to transform the cottage on the Windsor Castle estate into a family home.
The renovation included a £ 50,000 eco-friendly boiler, designer kitchen, and renovated yoga room and bathrooms.
But the Sussexes haven’t set foot inside their massively renovated home since March.
Moving vans emptied the cabin after buying an 11 million pound mansion in California.
In September, Harry revealed that he had paid the taxpayer £ 2.4 million spent on renovations.
Weeks later, Eugenie made a private agreement with her cousin to move into the empty house.
The secret deal initially came as a surprise to the royals, but was welcomed as the pregnant Eugenie could live close to the parents, Prince Andrew and Fergie.
SECRET OFFER
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh meet in their “HMS Bubble” inside Windsor Castle, which is just a short walk away.
At the time, a Sussex source said: “Frogmore Cottage remains (the couple’s) residence in the UK and they are delighted to be able to open their home to Princess Eugenie and Jack when they start their own family.”
Harry and Meghan planned to keep Frogmore as their UK home, they said.
But they would ‘share the house’ with Eugenie and Jack if they returned to Britain next year, sources close to Harry and Meghan said.
The royal gardeners were sent to the cottage in October to obtain the shape of the land ship for the princess and her husband.
The gardeners at Windsor Castle had cleared the leaves and ventilated the house that had been closed for eight months.
It was understood that Eugenie, associate art director, and Jack, brand ambassador for Casamigos tequila, were working from home during the second pandemic lockdown.
Harry and Meghan received the 200-year-old Frogmore House from the queen in April 2019 before Archie’s birth.
The couple caused a storm after spending £ 2.4 million of taxpayer money on a major six-month remodel to make it their dream family home.
Meghan ordered a “substantial” overhaul of the 200-year-old house that needed rewiring and heating, including a £ 50,000 green boiler.
They spent taxpayer cash on a new designer kitchen and yoga room and renovated bathrooms.
The workers worked hard for six months to make it the couple’s dream family abode.
This included repainting the exterior and designing the garden on 33 acres of land.
The bill sparked outrage after the couple left Frogmore last November for a lakeside mansion in Canada with baby Archie, now 16 months old.
The Sussexes announced in January that they would be stepping down as royalty.
Harry and Meghan last stayed at the cabin in March during their farewell tour.
They officially resigned as members of the greater royalty on April 1 after moving into a friend’s Hollywood mansion in California and purchased a $ 14 million mansion in Montecito in July.
The couple have always maintained that Frogmore Cottage would remain their home in the UK.
In September, it was revealed that they had used private funds to pay the cost of repairs and rent “for several years.”
The “substantial” sum also covered any future rentals.
Eugenie and Jack could still return to Frogmore Cottage after Christmas, The Sun understands.
