Prince Harry tonight appeared BBC’s The One Show as he chatted to the families of WWII Survivors who suffered horrific burns in battle.

The Duke of Sussex, 35, surprised viewers as he tuned into the Zoom call during which he praised The Guinea Pig Club whilst chatting to the family members of brave war survivors.

The call – which was prerecorded before tonight’s program – saw Prince Harry tune in from his home in Los Angeles, as he spoke of his admiration for war veterans who survived horrific injuries but did not let that stop them from inspiring others.

It comes as the world celebrated the historic 75th VE Day on Friday as war veterans across the globe were remembered, celebrated and appreciated during the celebratory day.

Speaking of VE Day, the Duke said: “It’s on days like this where its so important to remember the Guinea Pig Club and look forward to everything that the CASEVAC Club will achieve as well.

“Those individuals who signed up chose to serve and then had life-changing injuries, [but] they didn’t stop there. “

I added: “It’s incredibly impressive and at the same time so incredibly uplifting.”

The Guinea Pig Club was founded by RAF Second World War veterans in 1941.

These veterans suffered horrific injuries and burns after being brutally hurt when their plans were shot down.

Tonight’s call saw the Duke speak to two veterans as he asked them to share their stories.

Explaining why he decided to appear on the program, the father-of-one said: “The One Show got in touch and asked if I could shine a light on a group of veterans that lots of people might not know about.”

Meghan Markle’s husband also spoke with Maggie Wilson, who is the widow of former GPC member 2nd Lieutenant Sandy Saunders.

Sandy suffered horrific 40% burns to his face and limbs, and he was forced to get new upper and lower eyelids, a nose and a mouth “so you can kiss the girls”.
